As many as 24 people with children were injured, including the driver, after the passenger jeep they were riding in fell into a 10-foot ravine in Barangay Natipuan, Nasugbu, Batangas this morning at 1:40 p.m. Saturday.
According to Nasugbu police, the jeep driven by Dominador Paulino was going up the steep side of the road when it had a mechanical failure and quickly backed away until it hit a concrete barrier before finally falling into the ravine.
On the force of the impact the said jeepney overturned.
The driver and passengers on board sustained injuries and fractures.
The youngest of the injured was a two -year -old boy while the oldest was 71 -year -old grandfather Dionito Guillermo.
Some of the occupants of the jeep were young children aged two to eight years old.
The children were on their way home from Silang, Cavite when the accident happened.
It appears from the investigation that the said jeep was also overloaded which according to the officials was one of the reasons why it was difficult to climb.
No one was reported killed in the incident and the injured victims, including the driver of the jeep who sustained a collar bone fracture, have been taken to Jabez Medical Center and Apacible Memorial Hospital.
The driver of the jeep and its passengers are currently in various hospitals in Nasugbu and are recovering while the police are still investigating the incident.
