Tagaytay’s Original Mushroom Burger Branch Closes After 47 Years

For generations of Filipino families, a road trip to Tagaytay was never complete without a stop at Mushroom Burger. Whether it was to escape the Manila heat, enjoy the cool breeze, or grab a bite of nostalgia, the iconic restaurant along the highway has been a staple of southern travels since 1979.

However, a major chapter of this culinary tradition has officially come to a close. The beloved original Mushroom Burger branch has closed its doors after 47 years of service.

Mushroomburger Old Location

The brand shared the bittersweet announcement on social media, expressing deep gratitude to the generations of loyal diners, travelers, and locals who made the original restaurant a second home.

But while the physical site of so many memories is saying goodbye, the brand is quick to reassure fans: this is not the end of the road.

Turning the Page: The New Location

To keep the legacy alive, Mushroom Burger has consolidated its Tagaytay operations into its newer, more modern branch nearby. Diners can still get their fix of the exact same recipes that made the brand famous, including:

The Signature 50-50 Patty: A unique blend of 50% fresh, farm-grown mushrooms and 50% premium beef—pioneered long before "plant-based blends" became a global trend.

Mushroomburger

Mushroom Fries: Crispy, golden-fried slices of mushrooms that served as the perfect alternative to regular french fries.

Noodle & Rice Favorites: Comforting plates of Lomi, Pancit, and savory Burger Steak meals.
If you are planning your next weekend getaway, you don't have to look far for your favorite stop.

The new branch is situated in a prime, highly accessible spot along the main highway:

  • Emilio Aguinaldo Highway, Tagaytay City
  • (Directly in front of Taal Vista Hotel, near McDonald's and Casino Filipino Tagaytay)

Nearly Five Decades of Memories

While the original rustic building, with its nostalgic retro diner interiors and outdoor playground, will be missed, its spirit lives on. Mushroom Burger continues to harvest its own mushrooms straight from their local farms to ensure every bite is as fresh and flavorful as it was back in the late '70s.

The venue may have changed, but the destination remains a must-visit. Next time you head up the ridge, make sure to drop by the new spot to keep the tradition going!
